The annual ceremony will take place at the Kaufman Center, Manhattan, NYC, on 30th March 2015.
The Latin ACE Awards, also Association of Entertainment Critics of New York, usually known by its acronym ACE, currently celebrating its 48th year as the dean of journalistic institutions of the Hispanic arts sector in the US, has announced the winners of its annual film awards for the year, which will be delivered on Monday night March 30th 2015, in the Kaufman Center, Manhattan, NYC.
The 2015 ACE Award for Best Film production is for “Cantinflas” (Mexico), which recounts the private and professional life of memorable comediant, major figure in the Mexican film. Best Director was won Diego Quemada-Diez, for “The Golden Cage” co-production between Mexico and Spain.
The Best Documentary Film Award goes to Artur Balder (United States), for “Little Spain“, the first film that shows drama and glory of the Hispanic immigrants in New York City throughout 20th Century.
Juan Basanta (Dominican Republic) for his memorable film “Biodegrable” receives the Opera Prima Award.
Oscar Jaenada (Spain) receives Best Actor for “Cantinflas”; Alina Rodriguez (Cuba), Best Actress for “Conducta”; Luis Gerardo Mendez (Mexico), Best Supporting Actor for “Cantinflas”; and Silvia Aguila (Cuba), Best Supporting Actress by “Conducta”.
It should be noted that in this edition of the ACE Awards, the Film Commission journalistic institution awarded a Special Distinction, outside competition, performing “Conducta” (Cuba) to highlight the values and raise awareness for the rights of children all around the world; and Puerto Rican actress Miriam Colón for his outstanding performance in the American film “Bless Me, Ultima,” directed by Carl Franklin.
During the awards ceremony, dedicated this year to actor, composer and pioneer entrepreneur Johnny Huertas, of Puerto Rico, and the veteran actress Teresa Yenque first, of Peru, also receive special recognition out of competition Marcos Ayala, George Bass and Gerardo Gudino, of Argentina; Max Ferrá, Rosita Fornes and Carlos Rodriguez of Cuba; Germán Jaramillo of Colombia; Fernando Allende and Rosa Gloria Chagoyán of Mexico; Héctor Luis Rivera of Puerto Rico; and Emmanuel Garcia Villavicencio, the Dominican Republic.

La ceremonia de entrega de los premios tendrá lugar en el Kaufman Center de Manhattan, Nueva York, el 30 de marzo de 2015
La Asociación de Cronistas de Espectáculos de Nueva York, conocida generalmente por sus siglas ACE, que actualmente conmemora su año 48 y su entrega 47 como la decana de las instituciones periodísticas del sector artístico hispano en los Estados Unidos, acaba de anunciar los ganadores de sus premios anuales de cine correspondientes al pasado año, que serán entregados la noche del lunes 30 de marzo, en el céntrico Kaufman Center neoyorquino. Ya anteriormente la ACE dio a conocer los ganadores locales de la categoría de Teatro, y la próxima semana anunciará sus selecciones de Televisión.
Durante la ceremonia de premiaciones, dedicada este año al actor, compositor y empresario pionero Johnny Huertas, de Puerto Rico, y a la veterana primera actriz Teresa Yenque, de Perú, también recibirán reconocimientos especiales fuera de competencia Marcos Ayala, George Bass y Gerardo Gudiño, de Argentina; Max Ferrá, Rosita Fornés y Carlos Rodríguez, de Cuba; Germán Jaramillo, de Colombia; Fernando Allende y Rosa Gloria Chagoyán, de México; Héctor Luis Rivera, de Puerto Rico; y Emmanuel García Villavicencio, de la República Dominicana.
En la categoría de cine, el Premio ACE a la Mejor Película lo ganó la producción “Cantinflas” (México), que relata la vida íntima y profesional del inolvidable comediante, figura cumbre del cine mexicano, y como Mejor Director resultó ganador Diego Quemada-Diez, por “La Jaula de Oro,” coproducción de México y España.
Los otros reconocimientos de cine son los siguientes: Mejor Documental: Artur Balder (Estados Unidos), por “Little Spain,” sobre los primeros inmigrantes hispanos en la ciudad de Nueva York; Juan Basanta (República Dominicana) por “Biodegradable”, Premio Ópera Prima; y en los apartados de actuación: Óscar Jaenada (España), Mejor Actor, por “Cantinflas”; Alina Rodríguez (Cuba), Mejor Actriz, por “Conducta”; Luis Gerardo Méndez (México), Mejor Coactuación Masculina, por “Cantinflas”; y Silvia Águila (Cuba), Mejor Coactuación Femenina, por “Conducta”.
Conviene destacar que en esta edición de los Premios ACE, la Comisión de Cine de la institución periodística adjudicará una Distinción Especial, fuera de competencia, a la realización “Conducta” (Cuba) por resaltar los valores y generar conciencia hacia los derechos de los niños en todo el mundo; y a la actriz puertorriqueña Miriam Colón por su extraordinaria actuación en la película norteamericana “Bless Me, Última,” dirigida por Carl Franklin.
